Summary

NIST standard (2015) specifying the SHA-1 and SHA-2 hash families (SHA-256, SHA-512, ...). SHA-256 hashes the payloads of SD-JWT and mdoc credentials, so ZK proofs over existing credentials must arithmetise SHA-256 — often the dominant cost of such circuits.
